Small businesses bring to our communities new, exciting job opportunities for workers. They offer much-needed services, entertainment, and activities for community members. And with some key support and guidance, I believe our community can be a place where small businesses flourish. So for the benefit of everyone in Bloomington, I commit to helping develop small businesses once I am elected as mayor.

A community is strongest when everyone is given a chance to be heard and to get involved. My vision for a united Bloomington brings citizens, organizations, leaders, and businesses together. No individual person has all the answers. So as your mayor, I commit to provide balanced leadership to bring us all together.
Key to a strong community is creating an environment where everyone can flourish. We must continue to remove barriers that contribute to injustices. Strong communities are built on a shared concern for all. From citizens to officials, we must care for one another and keep each other safe. This sense of safety includes our first responders, our fellow citizens who work hard to provide much-needed services to the good women and men of our entire community. However, while we acknowledge and honor their work, we also need to identify service gaps. We must find, develop, and fund innovative solutions to ensure everyone in our community is able to thrive.
The golden rule provided motivation for me to run for mayor in the first place… Love your neighbor and do right by them is a mantra I fully intend to exemplify as mayor of Bloomington. Like many, my personal faith informs the way that I lead and serve my community, as well as what I think about being a public servant and leader.
My life has been enriched and shaped by family, friends, and colleagues of different faiths, cultures, races, and political affiliations. My experience has been enriched by learning and listening to each of these voices. My intention is to maximize our shared values while simultaneously acknowledging the strength and diversity in our differences.
According to the tenets of the golden rule, we cannot pick and choose our neighbors. We cannot pick and choose the people we love. To abide by that golden rule means to respect and treat everyone equally. We must collaborate across political aisles and ideologies, races and religions, sexual orientations and genders, physical abilities and characteristics. We must find ways to co-create positive change and be committed to serving and building our community through the diversity of our cultural identities and beliefs.
Therefore, as mayor, I will be dedicated to the equal protection of the civil rights of all people.
And I look forward to building Bloomington together with each of you.
